About
Jack Thompson and Nigel Havers portray the legendary explorers in this spectacular dramatisation of the first European journey across Australia.
In 1860, Robert O’Hara Burke and William John Wills set out north from Melbourne to cross the continent to draw up maps of the hitherto undocumented interior. Graeme Clifford’s film follows the adventurers as they trek through the wilderness, battling the elements and striving for survival. The lead performances from Thompson and Havers breathe life into these two major figures from Australian history, while the striking on-location shooting showcases the treachery of the original expedition.
