After losing his job at a Melbourne magazine, Ted Wilson (Ted Wilson) moves back to Hobart to reconnect with his Tasmanian family. Searching for a new direction in life, he decides to write a work of literary non-fiction about cricket and becomes determined to track down the celebrated batsman David Boon. Eschewing any strict narrative, Under the Cover of Cloud is a gently joyful reflection on family and belonging. A deeply personal creation – the film was entirely self-funded and features members of Wilson’s actual family as themselves – the film is filled with quiet details that create an absorbing sense of intimacy.
