SYNOPSIS

Some people make their own luck while others are just lucky. A selection of cheeky animations that flip the coin and tell stories of chance encounters featuring dead pigeons, stool pigeons and at least one mozzie bent on revenge.

Ernie Biscuit 2015 dir. Adam Elliot (20 mins)

"The clayography of a lonely Deaf Parisian Taxidermist whose life is turned upside down and back to front when a dead pigeon arrives on his doorstep." Flickerfest

Chicken of God 2009 dir. Frank Woodley (8:51 mins)

"When the face of Jesus appears in a chicken's comb, Yirri and Teresa's vineyard becomes the location for an adventure of biblical proportions." Screen Australia

Lucky for Some 2004 dir. Robert Stephenson (11:23 mins)

"Two people give their accounts to the police about their attraction to gambling and chance and their recent encounters. Stop Motion animation." Robert Stephenson

Dear Richo 2019 dir. Bryce Pemberton (4:20 mins)

"Some unfinished business in the bush leads a bonehead to make a choice to escape his own fate." Bryce Pemberton

Mozzie 1999 dir. Dylan Yeo (7:26 mins)

"Seamlessly combining 3D animation and traditional filmmaking, this short film tells of a nocturnal war between two mosquitoes and a man deprived of sleep. Mozzie humourously gives an insect's perspective on an experience all too familiar for Australians on a hot summer night." Melbourne International Film Festival

Has Beans 1998 dir. Andy Tamandl  (8:50 mins)

"A happily napping little kidney bean (voiced by Andy Tamandl) is attacked by two scheming, bullying lima beans (voiced by Helmut Bakaitis). They grow legs and sneak up on it, playing with the kidney bean as if it were a football and laughing uproariously as it lies helpless and flat as a pancake." National Film and Sound Archive, Canberra
