SYNOPSIS

An intimate portrait of family dynamics set in the 1950s that in turn meditates on what it means to be human. Told through the lens of the eldest son Jack's poetic voiceover, he tries to reconcile his place within the family and goes on not only to ponder his place in the larger world but humanity's' place in the vast span of time. Audacious for its narrative scope often expressed through characters interactions with the natural world rendered with Malick's impressionistic, lyrical beauty,  the film stars Brad Pitt, Jessica Chastain and Sean Penn and won the 2011 Cannes Film Festival's Palme d'Or.
