SYNOPSIS

Veronica (Viola Davis) is left in a deadly predicament after her husband Harry (Liam Neeson) is killed during a heist. Harry’s crew stole $2 million from a gangster, and he’s giving Veronica a month to pay it back. She enlists the widows of Harry’s crew – all on the hook for the debt their husbands left behind – to complete an elaborate heist based on plans left by Harry.  Her reasoning: “The best thing we have going for us is being who we are, because no-one thinks we have the balls to pull this off. “

Viola Davis is incandescent as the leader of a crew of regular women who have kids to look after, businesses to run and are only just waking up to the reality of how their husbands made a living. Widows is a nail-biting thriller and unexpected dabble into genre film by lauded British artist and film director Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave 2013) with a stellar cast including Davis, Neeson, Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki, Colin Farrell, Daniel Kaluuya and Jacki Weaver.
