SYNOPSIS

Screening from archival 35mm film print

An Australian thriller, The Hard Word follows the three Twentyman brothers – armed robbers who’ve cracked the code of a life of crime – work with the cops to carry out the job. Dale (Guy Pearce) is the mastermind, Mal (Damien Richardson) is the ‘good one’ and Shane (Joel Edgerton) is a fierce and jumpy live-wire. But the stealing gig is wearing thin, especially when Dale suspects his wife (Rachel Griffiths) might be having an affair with the slippery police officer calling the shots on the latest job. Guy Pearce is pitch perfect as the taut crim who is tired of life in and out of jail and is chasing one last heist to end them all.

MA15+ | Strong coarse language, strong violence
