Live Music & Film: Sherlock Jr

21 Mar 2021 | GOMA | Cinema A

Presented as part of the 'Motorcycles on Screen' cinema program, the delightful Sherlock Jr 1924 stars Buster Keaton as a projectionist who longs to be a respected detective. After being framed for the robbery of the woman with whom he is in love, he must be put his investigative skills to the test in order to prove his innocence. Often described as one of Keaton's greatest directorial achievements, Sherlock Jr features silent cinema's most beloved motorcycle chase – a cavalcade of slapstick comedy and hair-rising stunts that remains thrillingly inventive to this day.

Organist David Bailey will accompany a 4K digital restoration of the film on the Gallery's 1929 Wurlitzer organ.

Hal Roach's silent comedy short Get Out and Get Under 1920, starring Harold Lloyd, will screen from an archival 16mm print prior to Sherlock Jr.
