Book 3: The Burial (2014), Courtney Collins
Inspired by the life of bushranger Jessie Hickman, The Burial is a work of haunting originality and power. In a mountain-locked valley in 1921, amid squalls of driving rain, Jessie is on the run. At 22, she has been a circus rider, a horse and cattle rustler and a convict. One catastrophic night turns Jessie’s life on its head and she must flee for her life, pursued through the bush by two men — one her lover, the other the law — who are desperate to claim the reward on her head.
