For queries, email events.plus@qagoma.qld.gov.au With a career spanning over five decades, how has William Yang influenced a generation of artists? Emil Cañita and Henri van Noordenburg discuss the influence of William Yang’s art on their own practices, and explore how Yang’s artworks, while intensely personal, unveil shared stories of humanity. Hosted by exhibition curator Rosie Hays, (Associate Curator, Australian Cinémathèque, QAGOMA). Emil Cañita is a queer, Filipino-Australian storyteller currently living in Naarm (Melbourne). Emil uses their body and social media account to explore different themes surrounding human sexuality, queer relations, and as a diary of someone who is a HIV-positive person of colour living in ‘post-AIDS’ Australia. Henri van Noordenburg has been an arts practitioner for over two decades. His work is part of several collections, including the Wallis Annenberg at Los Angeles County Museum of Arts (LACMA), and several national and international, public and private collections.
