About
Book for the lecture only component of our monthly Lunch & Lecture. Join Ruth McDougall, Curator, Pacific Art to explore a suite of three APT10 projects from the Pacific that engage with ideas of custodianship. This talk will introduce Members to the process of working with the Uramat clan in Papua New Guinea on the development of an immersive AV installation for the Collection of over 70 masks that they gifted to the Gallery. We will learn about the connections to land, sea and sky that inspires Ngai Tahu artists, academics and community leaders in Aotearoa to engage with midden materials left in museums on the South island and why Kanaka Oiwi artist Kaili Chun is interested in creating a conversation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and communities around the significance of water. To comply with social distancing measures capacity at this event is limited, book early to avoid disappointment. We have increased cleaning frequency, handwashing and sanitiser facilities, and introduced distance markers for queuing. We require your name and contact details, as well as your guest's, when booking to support contact tracing.
