Elisa Jane Carmichael

Adornments from nature

About this activity
Indigenous Australian artist Elisa Jane Carmichael is a descendant of the Ngugi people, one of three clans who are the traditional custodians of Quandamooka, which includes the water, land and surrounds of Queensland’s Moreton Bay.

To honour her cultural heritage, Elisa often uses natural materials collected from Quandamooka in her artwork. In this activity, Elisa invites you to create a necklace using natural materials from the environment around you.

This activity was developed to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2020.
