Dylan Mooney

We Can All Be Heroes

About this activity

Artist Dylan Mooney is a proud Yuwi, Torres Strait and South Sea Islander man from Mackay in north Queensland. Dylan’s artworks are inspired by his family and his culture, as well as history, current affairs and social media.

Dylan believes that anyone can be a Superhero. For his series ‘Blak Superheroes’ 2021, Dylan created a number of digital drawings depicting Frist Nations characters as comic-book style heroes – capturing the courage, strength and empowerment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

In this activity, you can create your own superhero identity by making a costume from items around your home.

This activity was developed to celebrate National Reconciliation Week 2022.
