Let our Volunteer Guides share their knowledge and passion for art while taking you on a tour to explore our special exhibitions and collection works. Tours are free and take approximately 30 to 40 minutes. Admission fees apply to some special exhibitions.

Tours at QAG leave from the Melbourne Street information desk, and tours at GOMA leave from the information desk in the entry foyer unless stated otherwise.

Volunteer guided tours for visitors with special needs 

Art and Dementia 

These free discussion-based tours are designed for visitors living with dementia and their family members or carers. Delivered at a relaxed pace by specially trained volunteer guides, the interactive nature of the tour encourages dialogue, participation and reflection. Tours take approximately 1 hour and focus on 4 or 5 artworks. Bookings in advance are required and are subject to availability. Wednesdays

Tours are scheduled once a month between February and November. A minimum of 2 business days' notice is required to secure a place. As these tours are especially designed for small numbers, capacity limits apply.

Groups
Community based organisations and residential care facilities are welcome to book a tour for a small group outside of the Wednesday program. At least 15 days' booking notice is required. Contact the Education Bookings Office to arrange a group booking.

Tours for visitors with vision impairment

These free tours offer a narrated description of the visual elements of artworks and are led by a volunteer guide. Tours are available on weekdays from February to November. Advance notice of 15 days is required. To book a descriptive tour, call the Education Bookings Office on (07) 3840 7255 between 8.30am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday or email educationbookings@qagoma.qld.gov.au.

Tours for visitors with hearing impairment

Visitors with a cochlear implant, hearing aid or hearing loss are invited to join a tour at either QAG or GOMA. Small groups explore a featured exhibition. Tours are free and are scheduled once a month from February to November. Assistive listening devices (FM system) are available. As the number of devices is limited, bookings in advance are essential. A minimum of 2 business days is required and bookings are subject to availability. Tours for visitors who are Deaf

 

These volunteer guided tours are accompanied by an Auslan interpreter from Deaf Services Queensland. Tours are free and are usually scheduled at QAG or GOMA on the last Sunday of the month from February to November. No bookings are required.
