The Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Material Inc. (AICCM) is the national organisation for conservators and those interested in the preservation of cultural material. This site contains useful information on the role of conservation in Australia, the AICCM Code of Ethics, and information on education initiatives. It also provides contacts for further information on specific topics.

The American Institute for Conservation site has a frequently asked questions section about the care of collections, information on the ethics involved in conservation, and definitions for conservation terminology.

Advice on preservation for the general public

The State Library of Queensland website provides information on the preservation of paper-based documents and photographs.

The National Archives of Australia offers the general public information on the preservation of digital media and other paper-based documents.

International bodies and further information for professionals

The International Council of Museums is the international organisation of museums and museum professionals and promotes the UNESCO program for museums. This site has information on the Committee for Conservation which aims to develop international knowledge and communication on the conservation of cultural heritage.
