‘Peopled: Contemporary Art from the Collection’ brings together a number of recent acquisitions as centrepieces for a display that considers artists’ and audience’s enduring fascination with the human form. People depicted in art appear in a variety of public and private social contexts, attesting to contemporary artists’ rumination on representations of our own kind. In 'Peopled', the human figure features in paintings, videos and installations, including Ron Mueck’s monumental sculpture In bed 2005, Beat Streuli’s video record of New Yorkers transiting their crowded city, and David Griggs’s extraordinary circus tent, painted in the Philippines.
