Barbara Heath
Barbara Heath: Jeweller to the Lost
15 October 2005 – 26 March 2006
Admission free Gallery 17 & Pelican Pool Lounge
This survey exhibition of the work of Barbara Heath presents a selection of jewellery and small sculptural objects created from the mid 1980s to the present. Drawn from private and public collections, more than 60 works demonstrate Heath’s skills as a jeweller and designer. Collectively, the works describe her distinctive approach to creating contemporary jewels and objects imbued with histories, narratives and symbolism. As ‘jeweller to the lost’, Heath has made an art of the commissioning process, collaborating with clients to help them ‘find’ their own uniquely individual piece. Born in Sydney, Heath has practised in Brisbane for more than two decades and is represented in numerous public collections.
A full-colour exhibition catalogue is available from the Gallery Store.
