The Gallery invites Queenslanders and visitors to Brisbane to celebrate the opening of the sixth and largest ever Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December. 

Join the buzz of an APT opening weekend at the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) and Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) – official opening by the Premier and Minister for the Arts, Anna Bligh; two days of artist talks, discussions and in-conversations; artists animating their works with intriguing performances; screenings of fascinating Iranian animation; and spectacular outdoor installations involving 50 bubble machines and a colourful fruit market.

Don’t miss the Pacific rhythms and beats of the free opening performance, Pacific Reggae Sounds, on Saturday night from 7.30pm.

All activities are free! (except the Exhibition Syposium)

A spectacular atmosphere will be created with two interactive installations. Thai artist Wit Pimkanchanapong’s Fruits transforms GoMA forecourt into a colourful fruit market. Japanese artist Shinji Ohmaki’s Memorial Rebirth will fill the air around GoMA with bubbles...Read more

Experience the unique rhythms of Pacific reggae with an evening of live performances at GoMA. Film screenings

Kids’ APT

Talks, discussions and in-conversations

APT6 artists speak about their work in the exhibition and provide insights into their practices. Programs include artist talks in exhibition spaces, panel discussions and in-conversation talks with Gallery staff, and will take place in both GoMA and QAG.
