Content and participation

  • Content warning: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are respectfully advised that artworks included in the tour may contain images and references to ancestors, now deceased, and references to strong themes of colonial violence, domestic servitude and contemporary social issues.
  • You are welcome to come with a friend, with your mob, or by yourself. Many people attend the Gallery solo.
  • 'Art & This Place' Tours are a unique opportunity to engage with First Nations culture, history and art. It’s not possible to provide a comprehensive history of this place or First Nations art and culture in a short tour. The tour will spark conversation by highlighting QAGOMA artworks and unpacking some of the stories these artworks tell.
  • The tours are designed as a space to ask questions and engage in respectful discussion. You can participate in discussion, ask questions, or just listen.
  • When posing questions please consider that Art & This Place facilitators are not equipped to speak on behalf of all First Nations people, only on their own unique experience.
  • An Art & This Place Additional Resources Page has been compiled for those wanting to explore further before or after the tour.
  • We ask all attendees to be kind, respectful, and courteous to all participants, speakers, and staff at this event. This program will be monitored by QAGOMA staff to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our attendees, speakers, and staff.
