About
Yellow is Forbidden follows Guo Pei, the designer of the show-stopping gown worn by Rihanna to the 2015 Met Gala. It captures Guo striving to become the first Chinese designer to be accepted by Paris’s exclusive Haute Couture. Despite growing up during the Cultural Revolution when there was no degree course offered in fashion, Guo is now internationally renowned for her lavish creations that take years to make. The documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look at the machinations of the fashion world and Guo’s determination and vision to create meticulously crafted pieces in an industry dominated by fast fashion.
