About
Please note: this screening of Titian - Behind Closed Doors is cancelled and will be replaced by the documentary Ottolenghi and the Cakes of Versailles 2019. Titian - Behind Closed Doors will screen on Sun 10 October at 10:30am.
When Venetian painter Titian was commissioned to create a series of six paintings by the King of Spain Philip II in the 16th Century, he chose to paint a series of fiery examinations of love, lust, death and passion. Now regarded as some of the greatest paintings ever made, these works were brought together for an exhibition at the National Gallery in London – only for the gallery to be closed due to the Covid pandemic. This documentary takes audiences into the viewing room to see these paintings up close and behind closed doors.
