TALK CANCELLED - SHORT FILM SCREENINGS CONTINUING
We regret to announce that the originally advertised talk will no longer be progressing. Instead, there will be a special screening of two rare short films written by Céline Sciamma during her time at the La Femis film school: Cache ta joie (Hide Your Joy) and Les premières communions (First Communions).
In line with Government social distancing guidelines (20 March) screenings are now limited to a maximum of 32 patrons in Cinema A.
Cache ta joie (Hide Your Joy) 2006 (32 mins) Ages 15+
Rather than playing football and spending time with his friends, 17-year old Jean (Pierre-Alain Claver) is forced to confront his own mortality after being diagnosed with a potentially fatal illness.
One of the first screenplays written by Céline Sciamma in collaboration with the film’s director, Jean-Baptiste De Laubier, this short film demonstrates Sciamma’s innate ability to give a delicate insight into the tumultuous world of adolescence. The film contrasts the frivolity of misspent youth with the preciousness of time, highlighting the hidden joy that exists in the everyday moments that may otherwise be taken for granted.
Les premières communions (First Communions) 2004 (13 mins) Ages 15+
Set in a lonely mountain house, Pierre (Mathéo Cappelli) leaves his wedding to visit his sister Pauline (Adèle Jayle) where they discuss the complicated nature of their relationship.
Please note these films contain adult themes.
