About
The bright and cheeky Yangchan is just old enough to notice that the actions of the adults around her don’t always match what she’s being told. At a tender age when she still wants to play but her family need her to start becoming more independent, Yangchan befriends in an orphaned lamb as a friend to lavish her love and boss around. River highlights the hard work, enduring bonds and relational complexities within a herding family in the wild and remote Tibetan steppe. Director Sonthar Gyal subtly explores the impact that personal and national histories have on daily life in this beautiful yet harsh farming world.
