Seventeen-year old classmates Thomas (Corentin Fila) and Damien (Kacey Mottet Klein) despise one another and fight constantly. When Thomas’s foster mother is hospitalised, Damien’s mother (the local doctor) invites Thomas to stay with them to focus on his schoolwork. As the boys live with each other, they are forced to confront their repressed feelings for one another which gradually move from aggression and animosity to desire and love.

Directed by André Téchiné, Céline Sciamma’s writing shines through the film, often unspoken yet physical interactions between Thomas and Damien highlighting their struggle to find ways to adequately convey these complex feelings.
