About
Deep Red features everything that made the giallo genre so beloved: mysterious murderers, lurid colour, shocking twists, and Rube Golbdberg-esque sequences of sensational slaughter. Combined with Goblin's frenetic score and Luigi Kuveiller's inspired cinematography, this is giallo cinema at its peak.
The film follows musician Marcus Daly (David Hemmings), who sees a woman being murdered in her apartment as he walks home through Rome. Intervening too late to save her, Marcus teams up with reporter Gianna to make their own investigations and soon find themselves targeted by the vicious killer.
Deep Red is a beautifully choreographed thriller of the highest order in which Argento throws every cinematic technique he can dream up at the screen.
