Acclaimed British filmmaker Mike Leigh delivers a stunning portrait of the later life and work of painter JMW Turner. Turner is portrayed by Timothy Spall, who gives a spellbinding performance that won him the Best Actor award at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Drawing from Turner’s own aesthetic, Leigh and cinematographer Dick Pope have designed an immaculately framed and lit film that is as wholly original as the painter it examines.
