About
Decades before they would unite on the titanic Mad Max: Fury Road, fellow Australians George Miller and John Seale would join forces on this adaptation of the true story of Augusto and Michaela Odone (portrayed here by Nick Nolte and Susan Sarandon). The Odones’ son Lorenzo is a seemingly healthy young boy who suddenly displays signs of neurological deterioration. Diagnosed with a terminal illness, the Odones set out to find a cure for their child. Speaking to Miller’s previous career as a doctor, Lorenzo’s Oil is an operatic and affecting depiction of parental devoting delivered in the filmmakers’ inimitably inventive style.
