Easy Rider will screen from a 4K digital restoration.
Easy Rider is the quintessential screen portrait of American counterculture. The film follows two chopper-riding hippies Wyatt (Peter Fonda) and Billy (Dennis Hopper) on a journey across America, where they experience a vivid cross-section of social tensions throughout the country. Produced on a low budget, the film was a critical and commercial success, and changed the way Hollywood films would be produced for decades to come. The film's iconic imagery and soundtrack remain intrinsically intertwined with wider Western understandings of motorcycle culture - presenting both the promise of freedom and fraternity on the road, alongside the danger and prejudice that can be found too. Now more than half a century from its first release, Easy Rider is still one of cinema's most potent examinations of modern America.
