Career and Volunteer Opportunities
Members of the public enjoy a volunteer guided tour of Quilts 1700-1945.
The Gallery provides career opportunities in the areas of Curatorial and Collection Development, Programming and Corporate Services, and Marketing and Sponsorship. The Corporate Administration Agency (CAA) coordinates the Gallery's recruitment activities, while volunteer opportunities are coordinated by the Gallery.
Current vacant positions are posted on the Queensland Government website. Positions may also be advertised in the Saturday edition of the Courier-Mail.
The Gallery is supported by a strong team of volunteers who perform important roles in various areas of the Gallery's operations.
Curatorial volunteers (usually final-year or postgraduate art history students) provide assistance to specific curatorial projects. For information please submit an inquiry.
Volunteer guides provide visitors and pre-booked special interest adult groups with informative tours of special exhibitions and collection displays at both the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art.
Trainee guides are required to attend a structured training program. During this time, trainees must also undertake self-directed study and participate in assessment procedures. On successful completion, trainees join the Volunteer Guide roster and commit to an on-going learning program.
Intakes of trainee guides occur on a needs basis. To express interest in receiving notification about the next intake or for further information please submit an inquiry.
